About Me

Welcome to the Photography section of my web site.

I'm just a novice at photography.  In the past, my very best pictures were simply average.  More often than I liked they would come out too dark, too light, grainy, blurry, etc.  Then I got a digital camera.  Life changed!  My photos improved!  I became fascinated with taking pictures of everything (and ended up annoying my family because they were the object of many of those pictures).  What makes the most difference is that I can now get immediate feedback after taking a photo.  This feedback (an LCD screen on the back of the camera that displays pictures) provides a wonderful learning experience.  It allows me to experiment and instantly see the results of different settings, angles, lighting, etc.

I'm still learning and experimenting.  I have a lot of fun taking pictures, and I take A LOT of them (more than 50,000 photos in the 7 years I have had a digital camera, hey--it's cheap--no film).  Once in awhile, one will turn out really cool (i.e. the "Brute Force Technique").  My favorite thing to photograph is nature, especially sunsets.  The background of this page is of a sunset at Pismo Beach, California.  The audio accompaniment to this web page is of waves on a seashore and is a rather large file which may take a minute to download -- be patient.  The Audio Controls are at the bottom of the page (click here to go to the control and then click the play icon to hear the surf).

Take a look at my photo gallery.  It contains pictures that I have taken with my digital camera and is best viewed when you set your display to 24 bit color or better.  This section of my web site is optimized for a 1024 x 768 resolution.

If you're interested, you can check out my photography equipment and other technical stuff.  I've included links to software that I think are very useful for editing and viewing digital picture files.  I have also assembled a list of interesting and useful photography links

Please feel free to email me and tell me what you think of my photography sight.  You can also sign My Guest Book or take a look at it (View Guest Book).  And don't forget to visit the rest of my web site (Home)
